SugarGrip Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 August 2026

Everything you log in SugarGrip stays on your device, with one exception: to write the app’s AI notes and insights, parts of your log are sent to Google. The app also includes Meta’s advertising SDK, which sends limited technical information about installs and app opens — never your logs. All three parts are explained below.

What the app stores

Everything you enter — treat logs, craving check-ins, streaks, notes, your name, and any photos you attach — is stored only on your device. The app has no accounts, no servers, and no cloud backup. We cannot see any of it, and there is no copy of it anywhere else. The one thing that leaves your device is described in the next section.

AI notes and insights

SugarGrip writes you short personal notes and insights from your own log — a note about how a day or a week went, a line for you in the middle of a craving. They are written by Google’s Gemini model, reached through Firebase AI Logic, and writing one means sending the part of your log it draws on to Google:

The exact notes the app writes will change as it grows, but the shape stays the same: only the log behind the note being written for you, sent at the moment it is written, never in the background. Nothing else is sent. Not your contact details, not your device or advertising identifiers, and not an account — there isn’t one. Google returns the note, your phone stores it, and the note is what you read. Google’s handling of what it receives is governed by Google’s privacy policy and the Gemini API terms.

These notes are part of the app rather than a separate feature to switch on. If you would rather your log were never sent anywhere, the app is not for you — and deleting it removes everything on your device.

What leaves your device for advertising

SugarGrip includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK so we can tell whether our ads actually lead to installs. When you install or open the app, it sends to Meta:

Meta processes this to measure and improve the performance of our advertising. Their handling of it is governed by Meta’s Data Policy.

What Meta does not receive

Meta receives none of your SugarGrip content. Specifically, it never receives:

Your choices

Because SugarGrip does not ask for tracking permission, iOS treats tracking as denied by default and blocks Meta’s tracking endpoint. Measurement runs only through Apple’s aggregated, delayed reporting.

You can limit things further:

Photos

If you attach a photo to a log, it is saved in the app’s own storage on your device. The only time a photo leaves it is as the small copy sent to Google when an AI note covers the day that photo belongs to, as described above. It is never uploaded anywhere else, and never to Meta.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. There is nothing stored elsewhere for us to delete — we hold no copy of your logs and there is no account to close. What has already been sent to Google to write a note is held under Google’s terms, linked above. Information already sent to Meta is aggregated ad-measurement data that is not linked to you by name and cannot be traced back to an individual on request — to limit it going forward, use the choices above.

Children

SugarGrip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the app and you would like the matter looked into, contact us at the address below.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
